Baldwin, New York came alive with culture, elegance, and community as Black Edfluencers- United (BE-U) hosted its 2nd Annual Gala at the Coral House. This powerful evening honored educators who continue to be change agents for the culture, standing at the intersection of teaching, advocacy, and leadership.

The night opened with tradition: the sound of a live drummer and the reciting of African poetry, grounding the celebration in heritage and history. Guests were immediately immersed in an atmosphere that paid homage to the past while inspiring a vision for the future.

The BE-U Gala reflected sophistication and intention at every turn. The color scheme—a reference to BE-U’s signature of black and gold—set the tone for the evening. Elegant linens: Gold Metallic Forest mixed with Gold Mardi Gras paired with a lovely Platinum Dupioni Napkin by Nuage Designs elevated the ballroom. The L Prestigious Events team transformed the ballroom into the perfect backdrop for over 200 guests who gathered to celebrate.

The program captured the essence of BE-U’s president and social committee vision: fostering unity, positivity, and cultural awareness through curated experiences. The evening was hosted by Patricia Robinson, Radio Host of 94.7 The Block, keeping the energy flowing and the audience engaged. In addition to celebrating educators, four scholars were awarded scholarships courtesy of BE-U, underscoring the organization’s commitment to uplifting the next generation.

Entertainment brought energy and heart to the night. Guests enjoyed dancing, with a highlight being the fan dance—made even more festive as the L Prestigious Events team passed out white fans that filled the dance floor with motion and laughter. A celebrity performance by Parish of EPMD had the crowd on their feet, while BE-U President Dr. Shango Blake, known as the former Hip Hop Principal, blessed the room with a rap declaring, “Our Culture Is Our Cure Right Now.”

It was truly honored to work with Dr. Shango Blake and his team to help bring their vision to life. The night was pure dedication to celebrate culture and uplift community which made the 2nd Annual Gala a fun and memorable event.
